What are social deduction games?

Social deduction games, such as those shown in the TV show ‘Traitors’, is a genre of gaming that sprung up in the mid 80s in the form of Mafia or Werewolf. In short, the game involves around 8 to 25 people gathering in a circle and being given ‘roles’ within the group. A small number of these roles will be ‘traitors’ (or ‘mafia’ or ‘wolves’) who will systematically start to remove players from the group. The aim of the game for the rest of the players, is to, through discussion, logic and intuition, identify and remove the corrupt players before it is too late.

What’s needed to play Traitors with my team/group of friends?

Not much! As long as you have 8 people, then we’re good to go! You can provide the venue, or if you’d rather, leave that to me to organize. Once we have the people and the place, the rest will just happen. We’ll do three or four games over an evening or afternoon. Everyone will get the rules fully explained to them and a role card secretly handed to them. From there, the game will largely play itself with me moving play between the ‘night time’ when the traitors do their betraying, to the ‘day time’ when everyone comes together to identify who they can and can’t trust.

So! If you want a social deduction game for your friends or colleagues, and are in the south of England, follow the booking steps below, and let the betrayal begin!
