The Generalissimo is Dead – A Megagame

Ministers of Yugenya, Unite!
The death of the Generalissimo is both unexpected and unexplained; our nation has been plunged into mourning. But despite our own grief, it is upon us, as members of Yugenya’s Parliament, to rally together and steer our people from the precipice of panic, infighting, and economic disaster. Our enemies will be watchful for any opportunity to topple us. Let us stand together, set aside our grudges, and pull Yugenya through to a bright new age!

A megagame is a social game in which large numbers of people, in this case over 37, come together in order to play out a single dramatic scenario over the course of a single day. The game shares elements of social deduction, roleplaying and large scale board games.

Perhaps now more than ever, there is the risk of mutiny and dissent within Yugenya. Even within the halls of power. Internal security is the committees most powerful tool in remaining aware of potentially detrimental alliances forming within the other ministries.

Furthermore, numerous people, many close to other ministers or critical to political movements, have been locked away over the years and decades. Internal security holds the keys.

The ministry of economic development is in direct contact with the lifeblood Yugenya. The goods made, the food farmed, the internal trade and standard of hospitatlity all rests on the shoulders of a few ministers. They walk a fine line between public content and total civic collapse.

A political-military force loyal to the Generalissimo’s ideology. Their allegiance is uncertain as they can act as enforcers of the new regime or become kingmakers in the struggle for power.

With the death of the Generalissimo, the other powers of the world will be looking to profit from the turmoil. The Foreign Ministry must be pure and judicious in handling these external, and potentially threatening relationships.

The ministry of communications is commanded by the head of Security. In the Generalissimo’s eyes, news and entertainment was critical to public order. Those in the ministry will be tasked with regular broadcasts to the rest of government.

The Generalissimo, in his infinite wisdom, could not decide if transport was an external or internal affair. Nonetheless, the trains, planes, buses and highways are critical to economic or military power.

All ministries require spending to achieve anything. And to spend, they must have the blessing of the treasury. The Generalissimo always kept them separated from the rest of the ministers; much rests on their impartiality.

Potentially the most publically visible of the government bodies- the ministry for Health & Safety controls the medical staff, enforcement officers and fire services of Yugenya. A misuese of these resources is a calamity they strive to avoid.

The Western superpower and one of two foreign corporations that are keen to capitalize on the upheaval ahead. Consequently, FreedomCorp has considerable persuasive powers to protect their interests.
